Barista

About the role

Allen Cafe is seeking a full‑time Barista to join its team at the Panadura location. You will be part of a friendly, community‑focused coffee shop that serves high‑quality beverages and simple fresh food in a welcoming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and specialty espresso‑based drinks according to cafe standards.
• Greet guests, take orders, operate the point‑of‑sale system and handle payments accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized service area and follow food safety and hygiene guidelines.
• Restock supplies, assist with opening and closing duties, and ensure consistent quality and timely service.

Required profile

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to engage courteously with guests.
• Willingness to learn or existing knowledge of coffee brewing and espresso preparation.
• Clear communication abilities for taking orders and collaborating with teammates.
• Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices.

Required skills

• Basic coffee brewing knowledge or willingness to be trained.
• Familiarity with espresso‑based beverages.
• Basic math skills for cash handling.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
