Associate – Conveyancing

About the role

Invictus Law, a boutique firm specializing in commercial, corporate and real‑estate transactions, is looking for a motivated Attorney‑at‑Law to join its Conveyancing Department as an Associate. You will work independently on property matters, supporting clients and ensuring compliance with local land laws.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply property and land legislation relevant to each transaction.
• Conduct title searches at the Land Registry, examine titles, prepare pedigrees and Title Due Diligence Reports.
• Draft, review and attest Deeds of Transfer, Lease Agreements, Mortgages and other notarial instruments.
• Manage title‑related matters with minimal supervision.
• Liaise with clients, external counsel and government authorities.
• Maintain accurate internal legal records and documentation.

Required profile

• Qualified Attorney‑at‑Law, preferably with an LLB from a recognised university.
• 2–3 years of legal experience, including at least two years of notarial work in title searches, drafting and attesting deeds.
• Strong knowledge of property law and civil procedure.
• Ability to work independently, handle multiple matters and meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Notarial licence in English for the Colombo District is an advantage.
