Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Megakem Engineering is seeking a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support cost management across construction projects. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in estimating, measurement and project financial control.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQs), quotations and project budgets.
• Conduct quantity take‑offs and measurements from drawings and specifications.
• Assist with interim payment applications, progress claims and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs, material usage and variations to ensure effective cost control.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotations and prepare comparative statements.
• Coordinate with project teams, procurement and other departments to ensure accurate costing.
• Maintain records of project costs, measurements, contracts and related documentation.
• Perform site visits when required to verify quantities and progress.

Required profile

• Diploma or HND in Quantity Surveying or related field; degree or professional qualification is a plus.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience or fresh graduate with strong willingness to learn.
• Basic knowledge of construction methods, cost estimation and BOQ preparation.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
