Assistant Procurement Manager – Manufacturing

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Assistant Procurement Manager to support end‑to‑end procurement activities for both local and overseas materials in a manufacturing environment. The role involves supplier management, commercial negotiations, material planning and import coordination to ensure uninterrupted production.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end procurement for local and overseas materials.
• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable suppliers worldwide.
• Negotiate prices, MOQs, payment terms, lead times and other commercial conditions.
• Review and authorize purchase orders against approved requirements.
• Monitor material availability, align with production plans and ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate imports, shipping schedules, freight arrangements and customs clearance.
• Prepare and review landed costs, freight quotations, duties and taxes.
• Monitor raw material inventory, excess, slow‑moving and non‑moving stocks.
• Resolve incoming material quality issues with suppliers and quality teams.
• Identify supply risks and develop alternative sourcing or contingency plans.
• Drive cost reduction through negotiations, alternative sourcing and shipment planning.
• Prepare reports on procurement performance, inventory, supplier performance and cost.
• Guide and support procurement team members in daily activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Management, Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain or material management.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly advantageous.
• Proven experience in local and overseas sourcing, supplier management and import procurement.
• Experience supervising or guiding procurement team members is a plus.
• Professional qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain or Logistics are advantageous.
• MBA or postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of procurement, material planning and inventory management.
