Assistant Human Resources Manager

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Assistant Human Resources Manager to join the Shangri‑La Hotel Colombo team. The role supports the HR function in a fast‑paced hospitality environment, ensuring accurate payroll, compliance, and a positive employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee payroll administration, maintain accurate employee records and ensure statutory compliance.
• Prepare and analyse HR metrics, including headcount, turnover, absenteeism and leave liabilities.
• Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures and employment legislation to managers and staff.
• Act as primary contact for HR‑related queries from employees, managers and external partners.
• Lead recruitment and talent acquisition processes from sourcing to onboarding.
• Manage employee relations matters, resolve grievances and promote a constructive workplace culture.
• Support the execution of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with organisational goals.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a fast‑moving environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll administration, HR operations and local labour legislation.
• Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership capability to mentor and develop team members.
• Professionalism, integrity and a commitment to confidentiality.
