Assistant Finance Manager - Operations

About the role

The Ceylon Tobacco Company, part of British American Tobacco, is seeking an Assistant Finance Manager – Operations to support its finance function in Colombo. The role will partner with operations teams, drive financial reporting, and ensure robust control and governance across manufacturing activities.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in operation forums, aligning financial metrics and accountability.
• Prepare operations reports and financial analyses, highlighting exceptional issues for resolution.
• Collaborate with heads of departments to capture financial insights and improve reporting.
• Lead the operations finance team in implementing control mechanisms and achieving 100% compliance.
• Support the Commercial Finance Manager with budgets, plans, and forecasts.
• Enable strategic initiatives and proactive business support through finance partnering.
• Manage resource allocation, risk, and financial discipline within the operations function.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation and simplification of processes.
• Coach, mentor and develop finance team members, ensuring succession planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is an advantage.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in operations or manufacturing finance.
• Strong understanding of accounting processes, standards, and their impact.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
• Proactive, meticulous and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
