Assistant Accountant – Renewable Energy

About the role

CodeGen Solar is looking for a detail‑oriented Assistant Accountant to support daily financial operations, project accounting, vendor payments, inventory management and tax compliance for solar projects across the island.

Key responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices, purchase orders and payment vouchers for solar components.
• Perform supplier statement reconciliations and resolve pricing, quantity or shipping discrepancies.
• Coordinate local vendor payments and assist with foreign supplier settlements such as LCs and TTs.
• Prepare and issue progress invoices for residential, commercial and utility‑scale solar projects based on milestones.
• Monitor payment collections, process receipts and maintain up‑to‑date customer ledgers.
• Track bank financing/loan conversion payments and liaise with partner financial institutions.
• Track stock movements, goods received and material issuances for active installation sites.
• Conduct regular physical inventory counts at the central warehouse and perform stock reconciliations.
• Assist in calculating job profitability, material usage variance and direct labour costs per project.
• Prepare standard journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments and monthly fixed‑asset depreciation schedules.
• Perform daily multi‑currency bank reconciliations and credit‑card settlement facilities.
• Maintain cash‑flow monitoring sheets and support petty‑cash management.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documents for statutory filings (VAT, SSCL, WHT, EPF/ETF) and ensure compliance with SLFRS/LKAS.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, profit & loss statements and budget variance analyses.
• Compile audit working papers and coordinate with external and internal auditors during annual financial audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
• Partly or fully qualified in CIMA, ACCA, CA Sri Lanka or AAT.
• 02–04 years of accounting experience, preferably in renewable energy, construction, engineering, manufacturing or import/distribution.
• Strong numerical accuracy, high attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication in English; proficiency in Sinhala/Tamil is a plus.
• High standards of integrity, professional ethics and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, QuickBooks, Odoo or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, financial schedules).
