Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Assistant Accountant to join a leading smartphone distribution company in Sri Lanka. In this role you will support the finance team by handling daily accounting transactions and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
• Supervise and assist finance team members with routine accounting tasks.
• Prepare and review financial statements, including profit & loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts.
• Provide financial insights and performance reports to senior management.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow activities.
• Coordinate with auditors, banking institutions, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal control procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as CIMA, AAT, or equivalent are an advantage.
• 4–6 years of accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel and other accounting tools.
