AI Trust Accountant & Accounts Payable Officer

About the role

This is the founding finance position for Motion Property’s Sri Lanka team. Reporting directly to the Founder, you will own both trust accounting and accounts payable for a Melbourne‑based real‑estate agency, while leveraging AI tools to build scalable systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily trust reconciliations by downloading bank statements, matching transactions in the Ailo platform, verifying trial balances and circulating reconciliation packs to senior management.
• Process 80‑100 supplier invoices, council rates, water bills and other property expenses each day, ensuring correct owner‑wallet allocation and obtaining required approvals.
• Maintain the integrity of client funds and guarantee timely payment of all property‑related bills.
• Develop and enhance AI‑augmented workflows using Claude AI and other automation tools.
• Support the growth of the Sri Lanka finance team, eventually leading a group of up to ten members.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with experience in trust accounting and accounts payable.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate with teams in Australia.
• Interest in applying AI technologies to finance processes.
