Accountant – Financial Operations (Colombo)

About the role

We are looking for an Accountant to manage day‑to‑day financial operations for our Colombo office. The role will support the management team with accurate financial reporting and data‑driven decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Record transactions, maintain general ledgers and prepare periodic financial statements.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, process invoices and payments.
• Reconcile bank and cash accounts and support month‑end and year‑end closing.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and basic financial analysis for management reports.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and coordinate with external auditors.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional certifications (CA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
• Prior experience in an agency, media or FMCG environment is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced creative setting.

Required skills

• Financial accounting, ledger management and journal entries.
• Preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Accounts payable and receivable processing, invoice management.
• Bank reconciliation and cash management.
• Budgeting, forecasting and basic financial analysis.
• Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets and ERP or cloud‑based accounting systems.
• Knowledge of applicable accounting standards, taxation basics and local regulatory requirements.
