Accountant – Finance Operations & Team Supervision

About the role

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day accounting operations, supporting financial reporting and tax compliance, and providing guidance to team members on finance‑related matters.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and supervise accurate daily accounting transactions, records, and supporting documentation.
• Manage and monitor Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including bank and General Ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly and year‑end closing, financial reporting, and preparation of supporting schedules.
• Ensure timely compliance with tax and statutory requirements, coordinating with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).
• Supervise team members in day‑to‑day accounting operations and provide finance guidance.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure accurate financial records.
• Perform other accounting and finance‑related duties assigned by Management.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience covering overall accounting and finance functions.
• Professional qualification such as AAT, CMA, CIMA, CA, CBA, or equivalent.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or ongoing professional studies) – added advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word (mandatory).
• Practical experience with accounting software and/or ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Sinhala.
• Previous experience supervising or managing a team – added advantage.
