Senior Teacher – Primary

About the role

The British Council is seeking an experienced Senior Teacher to lead its Primary English language programme. You will drive academic quality, support teacher development and ensure a rewarding learning experience for children aged 6 to 10.

Key responsibilities

• Provide line management and coaching to teaching staff, including observations, mentoring and performance development.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding and wellbeing initiatives for teachers.
• Design, deliver and evaluate continuing professional development programmes.
• Represent the British Council at conferences and share best practice internally and externally.
• Collaborate with Teaching Operations and Customer Services to implement teaching frameworks, standards and product guidelines.
• Support the introduction of new courses, resolve academic enquiries and complaints.
• Embed safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and support SEND learners.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree.
• Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate in TESOL.
• Cambridge DELTA, Trinity Diploma in TESOL or equivalent recognised by the British Council.
• Relevant Young Learner qualification (for ST YL).
• Minimum 2 years post‑DELTA/Trinity Diploma experience.
• Extensive experience in managing and delivering teacher training.
• Proven line‑management experience with teaching teams.
• 800+ hours of teaching experience with primary learners (ages 6‑10).
