Research Engineer – Electronic Design for Embedded Systems & Robotics

About the role

IMDEA Networks’ Pervasive Wireless Systems Group, led by Prof. Domenico Giustiniano, is seeking a Research Engineer to advance research in electronic design for embedded systems, robotics, and wireless communication. The role focuses on Optical Wireless Communication (OWC) applied to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and includes developing and testing research prototypes. The engineer will be responsible for designing electronic circuits, implementing embedded firmware, and performing system‑level integration for UAV communication modules. Collaboration with academic and industry partners to validate OWC performance in real flight conditions is also expected. The position offers the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge OWC technologies and to contribute to high‑impact scientific publications.
