Head of Asset, Liability and Capital Management & Financial Planning & Analysis

About the role

HSBC Sri Lanka is seeking an experienced finance professional to lead its balance‑sheet management strategy. The role combines asset‑liability management, capital optimisation and financial planning to drive liquidity, funding and profitability within the bank’s risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the entity’s Asset, Liability and Capital Management (ALCM) policies, including Funds Transfer Pricing, Risk Appetite, ILAAP, ICAAP and Recovery Planning.
• Chair or act as alternate chair of the Asset and Liability Management Committee (ALCO), providing analysis, insights and recommendations.
• Optimise Economic Profit by managing risk‑weighted assets, pricing, cost and capital allocation.
• Develop and own the Management Information (MI) strategy, producing high‑quality ALCO and Operations Committee papers.
• Lead annual planning and forecasting, ensuring robust assumptions, stakeholder alignment and rigorous challenge.
• Partner with business units to deliver analytical support, client profitability insights and performance monitoring.
• Manage a team of six onshore and four offshore colleagues across ALM, financial planning and product control.
• Represent the CFO as needed, engaging senior stakeholders, regional/global teams and regulators.
• Drive digital adoption and process improvement, identifying automation opportunities to enhance speed, quality and control.

Required profile

• Significant finance experience, preferably within banking or treasury.
• Relevant degree and/or professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CFA or equivalent.
• Proven ability to lead large, cross‑functional finance teams and influence senior stakeholders.
