Remote Nurse Practitioner Contractor – AI Clinical SME

About the role

We are seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner or advanced practice nurse to join SME Careers as a remote contractor. In this position you will act as a Subject Matter Expert, reviewing AI‑generated clinical responses, creating gold‑standard prompts and answers, and providing detailed feedback to improve the safety, accuracy and clarity of AI health models.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training content by writing detailed clinical prompts and reference answers aligned with your specialty.
• Evaluate AI‑generated clinical replies, rating them for correctness, safety, clarity and reasoning quality.
• Identify and document errors in assessment, diagnosis, test ordering, prescribing, care pathways and escalation.
• Fact‑check clinical information and produce high‑quality explanations that model proper clinical reasoning.
• Compare multiple AI responses and recommend improvements to enhance model performance.

Required profile

• Current NP/APRN (or equivalent) licensure/registration in at least one jurisdiction (or eligibility).
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, including at least 2 years in an advanced practice or specialist role.
• Demonstrated advanced clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis, triage and red‑flag recognition within your scope.
• Experience managing common and complex conditions, patient education and follow‑up planning.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in a Nurse Practitioner specialty (e.g., Family, Adult‑Gerontology, Acute Care, Pediatrics, etc.).
• Ability to write clear, evidence‑based clinical explanations and model solutions.
• Proficiency in evaluating and rating AI‑generated content for safety and accuracy.
