Technical Lead – Java / Full Stack

About the role

Sysco LABS is looking for a Technical Lead to own the design, delivery and quality of Java‑based services while actively coding and mentoring a small‑to‑medium engineering team. The role combines hands‑on senior engineering with people leadership, release management and responsible AI adoption across the team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce architecture, design patterns and code quality for scalable, secure Java/Spring micro‑services.
• Lead end‑to‑end release management, applying Scrum/Kanban/Waterfall as needed and ensuring production stability through SLI/SLO monitoring.
• Drive DevOps and cloud best practices on AWS/GCP/Azure, including IaC, cost efficiency, security and vulnerability remediation.
• Mentor engineers, set clear goals, foster an inclusive culture and handle hiring and performance decisions.
• Guide the integration of AI‑assisted features, ensuring compliance, auditability and visibility of generated code.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership of a team.
• Proven ability to communicate with senior management and external stakeholders.
• Track record of fostering innovation while delivering reliable solutions.

Required skills

• Java and Spring ecosystem.
• Full‑stack development (backend APIs, frontend interfaces, databases).
• Microservices and distributed systems design.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Infrastructure as Code.
• DevOps, CI/CD, SRE fundamentals, monitoring/observability tools.
• AI‑assisted development governance.
