Project Manager – Land and Trust-building

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the LANTERN project, a joint initiative between UNDP and IOM, focused on land‑related grievances, resettlement and trust‑building in post‑conflict Sri Lanka. The role supports inclusive governance and contributes to SDG 16 by fostering peaceful, rights‑based development.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor project activities addressing land and trust‑building challenges in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.
• Coordinate closely with UNDP, IOM, national and sub‑national authorities, and local communities.
• Ensure alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and UNDP Country Programme.
• Prepare project reports, budgets and performance indicators.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement, capacity‑building workshops and communication strategies.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in development studies, public administration, law, or a related field.
• Proven experience managing development projects in post‑conflict or humanitarian settings.
• Strong understanding of land governance, resettlement processes and trust‑building mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and coordination skills.

Required skills

• Project management methodologies (e.g., logical framework, results‑based management).
• Knowledge of UNDP and IOM operational procedures.
• Experience with stakeholder analysis and community engagement.
